The Luddites: A History Not Taught in Schools

A history not taught in schools is the history of resistance to exploitation at the dawn of the industrial revolution. Individuals felt their trades were under threat as industry took away individual ownership over products. The unique talents of the weaver, the carpenter, the blacksmith, the furniture maker, the carver, and the cobbler were now owned by the rise of giant industry and the wealthy industrialists. Harming the livelihoods of individuals who mastered these trades. The biggest resistance to this change were the Luddites in Britain. They were angry that the factory owners were taking over their trades and lining their own pockets as owners of the new production lines. They were angry that they would have to work under a glorified exploiter and give up their individual trades and give up ownership of their own trades. They resisted but were defeated. Many were put to death.  Why is this history not taught in school? Why do you think? Once we're done with school we'r...

Lament of the Wage Thief

This blog is an allegorical piece about wages being withheld from workers to further enrich overpaid CEOs, CFOs, and head executives.  It goes something like this:  The workers wanted paid sick leave. "We cannot afford paid sick leave even though it's required by law in some countries where people are happier!" cried the wage thief as he gave himself another $5000 a month bonus.  The workers wanted higher wages like the one's their parents earned decades ago. "We cannot afford a higher starting salary here! It costs too much!" whined the wage thief as he spent the money on more automation, more technology, and fancier toys for the office and other barely necessary to unnecessary accessories.  "I need maternity leave," implored the pregnant wife.  "Maternal leave?" snapped the wage thief. "You think just because I vote Republican that I care about family values. I just wanted the tax breaks!"  Thus is the life of a wage thief. T...

The Railroad Workers Strike

The railroad workers got a raw deal this week. All they wanted was paid sick leave (which most developed nations outside the U.S. are required to have by law) added to their contract. But the government favored the greedy wealthy owner class over the workers once again. A worker uprising in America is long overdue.  We need a worker uprising bigger than the one in the 1940s. We need to support the railroad workers and anybody who doesn't support the railroad strike is an enemy of the American worker. The lobbyists and wealthy business owner class thinks they own America. They do not. The worker, the starving artist, the underpaid scientist. All these people have more talent than any of the CEOs and business owners in this country who are taking our rights as workers away. Most business owners don't know anything about being an engineer, an architect, an anthropologist, a scientist. They are limited to their own area of expertise and yet the system treats these ignoramuses who...

The American 'Pipe' Dream

I recently read an article that said that the jobs that created the middle class in America are dying. Thus hurting the American Dream. The American Dream. It was always temporary at best and a pipe dream at worst. It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it. The people who believe in the American Dream the most are usually very sheltered middle to upper middle income folks who live very sheltered lives. They remain optimistic and naively trusting of a system that doesn't care about them any more than it cares about homeless veterans. Sure. Ordinary folks are eager to help the homeless veterans but those elites in charge of our system certainly don't.  If the elite are willing to discard our veterans imagine what they'll do to us! Imagine how the scheming multimillaires, billionaires, and overpaid politicians will treat you.  Do they care that middle class jobs that pay more than $15 an hour are disappearing? Will they do anything? No. Th...

Welcome to The Democratic Worker

Welcome to The Democratic Worker ;   a blog where I share opinions, current events, and politics. A place for freethinking and discussion. A blog for people who are tired of being taken advantage of by the wealthy business franchise owner class and ready to take the United States back for unions and the American working class.  The revolution begins with us! All of us! Join us! Ordinary hard working Americans deserve a larger slice of the pie that has been stolen from us by union busters and crooked politicians in the pockets of the dishonest wealthy businesses.

Elon Musk Kills Jobs

Wanna hear a joke? Billionaires are job creators. Hahaha! Only an American would believe that! Is that why Elon Musk killed half the jobs at Twitter and now Twitter might go bunkrupt? You know, maybe there's a reason the East India Company was finally required to break up by laws and regulations. Perhaps it is time to restore laws and regulations that regulate billionaires and their companies.  As a democratic worker I have a problem with billionaires buying up companies and then ruining them with their ineptness in running them. I have never been a huge fan of Twitter since it's a useless social media site for the most  part. But it does employ smart people and Elon killed their jobs. And the Elon fans who thought it was a good idea for Elon to buy up Twitter are retarded. Even if they're now changing their minds. Too late. You shouldn't have been dumb to begin with.  Anyway just my 2 cents today. Bye!
