Lament of the Wage Thief

 This blog is an allegorical piece about wages being withheld from workers to further enrich overpaid CEOs, CFOs, and head executives.  It goes something like this:  The workers wanted paid sick leave. "We cannot afford paid sick leave even though it's required by law in some countries where people are happier!" cried the wage thief as he gave himself another $5000 a month bonus.  The workers wanted higher wages like the one's their parents earned decades ago. "We cannot afford a higher starting salary here! It costs too much!" whined the wage thief as he spent the money on more automation, more technology, and fancier toys for the office and other barely necessary to unnecessary accessories.  "I need maternity leave," implored the pregnant wife.  "Maternal leave?" snapped the wage thief. "You think just because I vote Republican that I care about family values. I just wanted the tax breaks!"  Thus is the life of a wage thief. T...

The Railroad Workers Strike

 The railroad workers got a raw deal this week. All they wanted was paid sick leave (which most developed nations outside the U.S. are required to have by law) added to their contract. But the government favored the greedy wealthy owner class over the workers once again. A worker uprising in America is long overdue.  We need a worker uprising bigger than the one in the 1940s. We need to support the railroad workers and anybody who doesn't support the railroad strike is an enemy of the American worker. The lobbyists and wealthy business owner class thinks they own America. They do not. The worker, the starving artist, the underpaid scientist. All these people have more talent than any of the CEOs and business owners in this country who are taking our rights as workers away. Most business owners don't know anything about being an engineer, an architect, an anthropologist, a scientist.
